Maximising Existing Space to Deliver More Value. As operators continue to face growing pressure to deliver more experiences, attract wider audiences and maximise returns from existing facilities, making every square metre work harder has never been more important.
That challenge was central to recent IndigoFitness collaboration with West Wood Club Westmanstown, where an underutilised area was transformed into a premium multi-purpose training space capable of supporting multiple class formats without compromising the member experience.
.
Flexibility Without Expansion
Creating new opportunities for members doesn't always require additional space. Often, the greatest gains come from rethinking how existing spaces can work harder.
Working alongside West Wood Club and Les Mills, IndigoFitness designed and manufactured a bespoke solution that enables both Ceremony and Conquer programmes to operate within a single footprint. The result is a versatile space that delivers multiple training experiences while maintaining excellent flow, accessibility and usability.
Through intelligent layout planning and custom rig solutions, the studio provides operators with greater programming flexibility and improved utilisation, helping to maximise the value of every square metre.
Designing for Operational Efficiency
Successful facilities need to balance performance with practicality. With this in mind, the project incorporated dedicated circulation routes and bespoke walkway screens to create a clear and intuitive route for members.
Specialist flooring was selected to support a broad range of activities, combining durability, comfort and acoustic performance. The installation features 32mm paviFLEX Beast flooring alongside premium 16mm turf with integrated shockpad, creating a robust solution designed to withstand high usage while enhancing the training experience.
Every detail was considered to ensure the space performs as effectively for operators as it does for members.
Creating a Space with Identity
While flexibility and efficiency were key objectives, the finished space also reflects the club's distinctive identity.
Custom colours aligned with West Wood's teal branding, complemented by premium finishes and stainless steel logos, help create a training space that feels unique to the club and elevates the overall member experience.
As Luke Heapes, Member Experience Manager at West Wood Club, explains:
"How can we build this into something that's more than a space? How can we make it feel a bit more like a community? That's why we engaged Les Mills and IndigoFitness to help us enhance these spaces."
Future-Proofing Facilities Through Smarter Design
For operators looking to increase participation and maximise the potential of their facilities, expansion isn't always the answer. Thoughtful design, bespoke manufacturing and intelligent space planning can unlock significant opportunities within the footprint they already have.
The West Wood Club project demonstrates how premium, multi-functional training spaces can help operators deliver more experiences, improve utilisation and create long-term value for both members and their business.
