Multi-million-pound facility enhances school sports provision

Collinson Construction has completed work on a £2.14m multi-sports facility at a secondary school in Wiltshire.

Working in partnership with Edmond Shipway and NVB Architects, the scheme was delivered in eight months transforming a previously unused area of rough ground at the front of St John’s Marlborough.

New sporting spaces include a four-court sports hall, two external multi use courts and landscaped areas for student recreation.

Situated on Granham Hill above the historic market town of Marlborough, the school hosted an opening ceremony to mark the completion of the scheme, which fulfils a longstanding aim of the school to transform the space outside the main entrance, which had been earmarked for development for many years.

“As well as outstanding academic success, St John’s now stands as a school with truly outstanding facilities. Students and local sport clubs now have all-year access to a games and PE facility that truly enhances the provision of the activity based curriculum. I have been proud to be associated with such an exciting project,” said Martin Cook, logistics director at St John’s.
