Silver Carbon Literacy Status for Alliance Leisure

As part of Alliance Leisure’s ongoing and dedicated commitment to sustainability, they are proud to have achieved Silver Carbon Literacy Status.

Alliance Leisure began their Carbon Literacy journey in February 2024 and achieved Bronze Carbon Literacy status in November 2024.  From there, they have continued to work hard to educate their team and put in place a number of measures and working practices to reduce their impact on the environment.

Alongside training two thirds of their staff to become carbon literate, they established a Carbon Literacy and Sustainability working group to take forward the actions identified in their plan.  The buy-in from the team was amazing, with everybody reacting positively towards this initiative. Some even started making life-changing choices as shown in this staff feedback:

“I’ve changed to a fully electric car, reduced red meat consumption and plan for a PV installation.”

They have been able to establish a baseline for their carbon emissions and map out a 10–year plan to be net zero by 2035.  This has included committing to the Carbon Club, operated by Forest Carbon.  Comparing a 3–month period at the start of the year with a 3–month period at the end, they have seen a reduction of 36% in emissions from their car fleet.

Now that they have established their Carbon Literacy strategy, Alliance Leisure intend to use their influence with their partners, clients and supply chain to make even greater positive impacts on the environment. They will continue to invest in their workforce’s education and awareness and continue to monitor their impact.

Tom Gardner, Business Development Manager at Alliance Leisure who was instrumental in the project, says:

“We’re really pleased to have achieved Silver Carbon Literacy status. It’s a great reflection of the effort and buy in across the team to make a positive difference. This isn’t just a badge for us – it shows our commitment to learning, improving, and doing our bit for a more sustainable future.”
