Escape Fitness UK falls into administration

Functional fitness equipment supplier Escape Fitness Limited has entered administration, just over two months after its US operation was acquired by Curt and Tammy Tambornino.

Peterborough-based Escape Fitness Limited entered administration on 27 April 2026, with Scott Bevan and Simon Chandler of Forvis Mazars appointed as joint administrators.

Companies House continues to list the company, which was incorporated in 2001, as being in administration. Administrators’ proposals were filed on 25 June, followed by the result of a creditors’ decision process on 17 July.

The development follows the sale of Escape Fitness USA to Curt and Tammy Tambornino in February.

Announcing that deal on 19 February, the buyers said Escape Fitness co-founder Matthew Januszek would remain a shareholder in the US operation and become president of a new operating entity, Escape HoldCo. The existing US management team was also retained.

At the time of the acquisition, Escape Fitness Limited remained under the ownership of the Januszek family and was responsible for international markets outside North, Central and South America. The two independently owned businesses had intended to continue collaborating on areas including brand strategy, product innovation and global growth.

The administration of the UK company does not include Escape Fitness USA, which continues to operate separately. Escape Fitness USA's website remains active and is marketing functional fitness equipment and gym-design services.

Escape Fitness's latest filed group accounts, covering the year to 31 December 2023, showed turnover falling from £19.8m to £15.3m. Operating profit increased from approximately £111,000 to £440,000 over the same period. No later accounts were filed before the administration.

Companies House records show that Escape Fitness Limited's next accounting period had been extended to 30 June 2025, but those accounts were not filed before the company entered administration.

There has been no confirmed announcement identifying a buyer for the UK business following the appointment of the administrators.
