JD Gyms launches PT Academy

JD Gyms has launched a new personal training qualification designed to provide aspiring trainers with a direct pathway into the fitness industry.

The JD Gyms PT Academy has been created as an official route into a career with the gym operator, combining science-led education, flexible learning and practical gym-floor experience. Those who complete the qualification will receive a guaranteed interview with JD Gyms.

The launch comes amid rising interest in personal training careers. According to JD Gyms, Google searches for 'how to become a PT' have increased by 620% in the past month, highlighting growing demand for accessible and structured routes into the profession.

The 10-module programme covers areas including psychology, physiology, biomechanics and performance tracking. Each module includes an optional one-to-one live session with a tutor, while all sessions are recorded to support flexible, roll-on, roll-off learning.

Trainees will also have access to unlimited tutor support, including live sessions, recorded content, AI-assisted learning tools and human tutor guidance, with evening support available.

JD Gyms said the Academy has been designed to prepare learners not only to qualify, but to coach confidently from day one.

As part of the pathway, the programme includes a PT/FC hybrid model, offering a 12-hour salaried foundation for new trainers. The aim is to reduce financial risk while they build their client base and gain experience on the gym floor.

Lee Matthews, chief operating officer at JD Gyms, said: 'With guaranteed interviews and a hybrid pathway that offers a salaried foundation, we’re giving new trainers the structure, support and security to build their careers with confidence.'

The JD Gyms PT Academy is available at a reduced rate of £1,699, with flexible payment options. The course is aimed at aspiring trainers, career changers, fitness enthusiasts and JD Gyms members looking to formalise their expertise and move into a professional fitness career.
