Serving an ace for sports facilities

Tennis operator TieSports partnered with Codelocks to allow members to book and pay for tennis courts via a mobile app and even access the courts when staff are not on site.

With a number of sports clubs across Portugal and Belgium, international tennis organisation TieSports is set to expand its business over the next few years. As part of its drive to provide members with high quality facilities, TieSports wanted to overhaul its booking and payment system to make its tennis courts more accessible to players. However, it wasn’t always possible to have staff on site to manage the bookings, process the payments and ensure the courts were lit up and ready for play. TieSports sought a solution that could enable members to book and pay for tennis courts via a mobile app, allow members to access the courts when staff are not on-site and provide an automated system to turn court floodlights on and off.

TieSports approached Codelocks for a keyless access control solution so it could streamline its booking system experience for members – allowing them to book, pay for and access tennis courts easily using an app. “TieSports were looking for a solution to give its members the freedom to book and pay for a court using their smart phone, said Steve Newman, KitLock sales manager at Codelocks. “Codelocks CL4510 Smart Lock, Codelocks Connect Portal and Codelocks NetCode Technology offers TiesSports advanced programming and enables it to automate unique codes for members so they can enter the courts. “TieSports has also built into its system the ability for members to switch on the lights to the tennis courts when they need to. This functionality combined with our remote code access solution means members have the option to enter the facilities at different times of the day or night when staff are not on site.” Codelocks access control solution combined with an online booking platform has been a game-changer for TieSports.

Club members have the flexibility to secure a tennis court and make a payment whenever they choose, knowing it will be lit up and ready for play. There is no need to have staff available to arrange bookings, provide access or organise lighting. As a result, TieSports have been able to extend their rental period and generate more income without employing more staff. “Using an access control solution like this, combined with the light automation and our online booking platform gives a great opportunity for clubs to explore an extra rental period, with no need for additional staff,” said Diogo Mascarenhas, CEO of TieSports. “The ability to generate access codes remotely not only simplifies the process of booking a tennis court for members, but it’s also helping us make sport accessible to players at times convenient to them.”
