United Fitness Brands in administration

United Fitness Brands (UFB), the boutique fitness group behind popular London studios like Barrecore, Boom Cycle, KOBOX and Triyoga, has gone into administration, marking the collapse of what was once seen as a major force in the UK’s premium wellness scene.

This development follows a turbulent few years for the company. UFB first entered administration in September 2022 but managed to continue trading under a rescue plan while administrators sold assets and restructured operations. The original company was officially dissolved in December 2024, but a version of the business remained active under new management. Now, after further financial difficulties, the group has re-entered administration.

Earlier in 2025, UFB began shutting down several of its high-profile London studios, citing a long-term strategy to 'right-size' its portfolio. Studios in areas like Chelsea, Kensington, Marylebone and Mayfair were among those affected. The company stated that it was focusing on consolidating operations into fewer, multi-brand studio spaces. Members of closed studios were offered access to the remaining 11 locations or provided with refunds, and the company promoted its digital live-class platform, UF Connect, as an alternative.

Despite these efforts, UFB has struggled with rising costs, changing consumer habits and fierce competition from both budget gyms and digital fitness offerings. The administration puts the future of its remaining studios and digital operations in question. It also raises concerns for staff, members and creditors who may face uncertainty as the administrators work to manage the fallout.

UFB’s collapse underscores the ongoing challenges in the boutique fitness market, particularly in London, where premium rents and post-pandemic shifts in exercise habits have left many operators vulnerable.
