INDIGOFITNESS TRANSFORM TRADITIONAL P.E. TO MODERN TRAINING

Schools & colleges are making the switch from traditional fitness suites to a more functional strength & conditioning training space.

The latest education install from IndigoFitness show’s this transformation. St Columba’s College is an independent school with a heritage in developing top sport performers. They required a training space that allowed them to teach their fundamental physical education more effectively. They also wanted to incorporate their school branding and colour scheme, to make the training space feel an integral part of the college.

THE INDIGOFITNESS SOLUTION

IndigoFitness worked with the school on the gym design and gym equipment specifications with both time and budget restraints.

The first focus was achieving a space that allowed for fundamental movement skills. It was key that the floor space was maximised. The foundation consisted of a dual flooring specification of performance floor and turf. This would give the students space to perform fundamental lifts and dynamic movement patterns at the same time in separate zones.

IndigoFitness also designed some bespoke gym equipment. This included a bespoke storage system that ensured all components had a home, freeing up the floor space and keeping the environment safe. A completely bespoke rig, encompassing: 2x lifting stations, monkey bars, bumper storage, wall ball targets and attachments. All of which provide the opportunity for both individual strength & conditioning training and group training sessions. The rig is finished in the colleges signature black & red colours.

THE RESULT

The college now have a full functional Strength & Conditioning training space which gives students access to some of the latest training equipment. The open space provides staff the ability to teach more effectively and efficiently, enhancing the students learning experience.

HEAR FROM ST COLUMBA’S

“We had a rough idea what we wanted in our school gym but did not have an initial budget. Indigo fitness designed a gym that was suitable for all ages and listened to what we needed. Once we had a budget they quickly made changes and worked with us to keep what we needed and wanted. They understood that it would take a while to get the project signed off and were very patient with us whilst keeping in touch regularly to make sure we were happy with the design.

Our new gym is amazing and the custom rig and storage unit in our school colours give the students more functional space whilst also a visually nicer place to exercise.”
