Fitness First UK has launched red light therapy yoga and Pilates classes through a new partnership with wellness technology brand BON CHARGE.
The classes, which have initially launched at Fitness First’s Marylebone and Cottons clubs, integrate BON CHARGE’s Red Light Therapy Blanket into dedicated mind and body sessions, giving members access to recovery technology more commonly associated with specialist studios and premium wellness clinics.
The initiative is included within standard Fitness First memberships and forms part of the operator’s strategy to make premium wellbeing and recovery experiences more accessible within the mainstream gym environment.
Fitness First said it will host multiple red light therapy yoga and Pilates classes each week across the two clubs, reflecting growing member demand for services that support recovery, stress management and overall wellbeing alongside traditional exercise.
According to BON CHARGE’s Global Wellness Tech Trend Report, which surveyed 2,000 UK adults, only a quarter of adults have explored the use of red light technology, with 87 per cent of those users starting within the past two years. Almost a quarter of respondents said they are using red light devices to support post-workout recovery.
Fitness First will also introduce BON CHARGE’s Infrared PEMF Mat Max at its Cottons club. The mat combines pulsed electromagnetic field technology, red light and heat therapy, making Fitness First one of the first mainstream UK gym chains to incorporate PEMF recovery technology into its offer.
The partnership supports Fitness First’s wider ambition to evolve its clubs into holistic wellbeing destinations, as operators respond to increasing demand for recovery-led facilities and more rounded member experiences.
The launch follows Fitness First’s recent rollout of digital wellbeing technology with kip, which gives members the option to disconnect from phones and avoid distractions from social media and emails during workout sessions.
Marc Diaper, CEO of Fitness First UK, said: ‘Recovery is becoming just as important to members as the workout itself. People want fitness experiences that help them feel better, move better and switch off from increasingly busy lifestyles.
‘We see a real opportunity to make recovery technology more accessible by integrating it into the gym environment in a way that feels natural and approachable, not exclusive or intimidating.
‘This partnership is part of a much bigger shift in how we think about fitness clubs and the role they play in supporting overall wellbeing.’
Andy Mant, CEO of BON CHARGE, said: ‘Modern life has disconnected people from the environments our biology evolved for. Poor sleep, chronic stress, lack of recovery and constant stimulation have become normalised, which is why more people are actively prioritising wellbeing and recovery today.
‘At BON CHARGE, our mission is to make science-backed wellness technology more accessible and easier to integrate into everyday life. Partnering with Fitness First represents a major step forward in bringing recovery and wellbeing tools into the mainstream, helping more people experience the benefits as part of their regular routine, not just something reserved for elite athletes or wellness clinics.’
As part of the long-term partnership, Fitness First and BON CHARGE will also explore recovery-led strength training concepts, combining progressive resistance training with recovery technology.
