Research commissioned by the online digital fitness platform Fiit has found that spending on digital fitness has risen by almost 80 per cent, with one-third of UK adults now having used digital platforms as part of their exercise routine.
Produced by Pragma, the survey of 3,150 respondents show that those using digital fitness platforms are typically exercising 17 per cent more often than non-digital fitness users. They are also displaying a higher level of engagement across all types of exercise.
The sector’s success throughout the pandemic is set to have a lasting effect on the fitness market. The report estimates the UK Digital Fitness Market will be in excess of £500m after the pandemic, which equates to 10 per cent of the £5bn gym market (pre-Covid).
Consumers are embracing digitalisation as an important part of managing their health and wellbeing, with the findings showing that 31 per cent of Brits are now owning wearable fitness tracking technology - a figure which is only anticipated to grow as consumers continue to engage with connected solutions.
Almost 50 per cent of digital fitness users are planning to adopt a hybrid approach to fitness post-pandemic alongside other fitness activities.
